The Government Quarter. Oslo, Norway
Høyblokka is a government building in Oslo
and a symbol of Norwegian modernism. It’s
situated in the Government Quarters, a site
of high cultural prominence with the main
library of Oslo, multiple government offices,
a theater and a church. On July 22nd 2011,
this area was targeted by a car bomb and the
site has been paralyzed since and become a
cultural void.
For my advanced work in architecture I
worked with this building to address the
cultural void by transforming Høyblokka
from a private government building into a
public library.
Final Exhibition in Usdan Gallery, Spring 2024
A collection of models, drawings, and prints I had been working on the past year in my process of exploring and understanding Høyblokka.
